Digital Arts Curriculum
As sixth graders, Digital Arts students will work through a broad, hands on survey of computer based art production while using Adobe PhotoShop. Class projects are deigned to immerse the student in the dynamic field of digital and graphic arts, as well as photograph manipulation and its impact on the things that we see in print today. Students will use the computer and cameras as a creative tool and incorporate digital media in their process and delivery format. Projects include digital photography, advertising design, and the re-creation of art masterpieces. Students are encouraged to develop their own solutions and approaches to a wide variety of assignments.
As seventh graders, Digital Arts students will work through digital animation and sound editing, creating their own clay animation film. Class projects are designed to immerse students in the dynamic field of digital media and its integration into the 21st century. Working through the platform of animation and print design, students will incorporate graphic design into their projects using Adobe PhotoShop. Projects may include clay animation, music videos, and movie posters.
As eighth graders, Digital Arts students will immerse themselves into the career fields of digital and graphic design while using Adobe PhotoShop and Windows MovieMaker. Class projects are designed to introduce students to the career world within digital art and activate their creativity through the development of company branding and product design. Working through the integration of digital arts and design proposals from student-created businesses, students will incorporate their own experiences and the world around them into the presentation of their work. Projects may include company branding, package design, print advertising and video design. Students are encouraged to develop their own solutions and approaches to a wide variety of assignments.
